Replaced Pickup Pipe But....

Featured Replies

So today i decided to drop my sump to replace the pickup pipe. Dropped the oil, sump nut was tight the whole way out but didn't think much of it at the time. Sump cleaned and pickup pipe replaced. Only a few bits on it. Some from when my dipstick guide decided to snap. Cleaned up the sump, sealed it and put it back on. Couldnt do the two bolts on the gearbox side as iv not got the right bit. Thought id end the day at that. Put the sump nut in and it wouldn't go tight. Took it back out and noticed the threads ****ed on the sump. So now im left with a decision. Try to re thread the hole and put a new bolt in or get a new sump. God knows how much they cost. Really annoyed!

Hoping my mates dad can re thread it for me. If not then its new sump. The ecp one a good fit. Changed a cat on my gf focus and i wasnt impressed with it.

I have ECP one on mine, had to change it due to a close encounter with a speed bump. Has been ok so far. Dealer one was about £120 plus vat if I remember correctly.

I know someone breaking a mk1 VRS for spares. The engine is bust so I expect he would take the sump off and sell it to you - I can PM you his number if you want?

I have an ebay sump on mine after the same thing happened to yours it was £40 tho had to fit shorter bolts for the oil sensor.

If i have to replace ill get a new one as i dont want to be in the same boat again but thanks.

It fit no probs and all the original bolts were used, I had one on my diesel leon and I have one on the VRs so I know they defo fit on both only bad thing is you lose ya oil sensor off the bottom (if it has one)
