Door/Window problem

Featured Replies

Hello all

I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help me sort out this problem.

I have a 2007 Fabia Mark 1 (no remote locking) and there is a problem with the drivers door and windows.

This is what is happening-

Passenger door -

This opens/locks all doors when door key is turned in passenger door.

The passenger door window can be opened/closed only by using the switch on the passenger door.  The switch in the drivers door will not open/close either the drivers window or the passenger window.

When the passenger door is opened/locked with the key, there is the normal clunk sound and the indicator lights flash.

Drivers door -

This opens/locks all doors when door key is turned in drivers door

The drivers window and the passenger window will not open when the window switches are used on  the drivers door and the switch on the passenger door does not open/close the passenger window.

When the drivers door is opened/locked with the key, the normal clunk sound is sometimes heard  but the indicator lights do not flash.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Stef

Does nobody have any ideas?

Even a hint would be welcome!

The passenger door window can be opened/closed only by using the switch on the passenger door.

and the switch on the passenger door does not open/close the passenger window.

Hmmm.

Check for broken wires in the rubber trunking between door and car body. Also possible failed window switches.

scanned for error codes?

TMB - Thanks

"The passenger door window can be opened/closed only by using the switch on the passenger door."

This is when the car has been unlocked by turning the key in the PASSENGER door.

"and the switch on the passenger door does not open/close the passenger window."

This is when the car has been unlocked by turning the key in the DRIVER's door.

Are broken wires a common problem?

I assume that I will have to remove the interior door panel. Is there a guide somewhere on how to do this?

Sorry, but I don't know about error codes or scanning for them.

I've had it happen to mine, it's caused by the continuous opening and closing of the door, so is more prevalent on the driver's side. You can see the snapped yellow and green wire here...

No need to take off the door trim to check for this, just pull the rubber trunking back. It can be a bit fiddly to get back on though.

Thanks Freedom

I've pulled the rubber trunking back and gently tugged each wire.

There doesn't seem to be any broken wires.

I suppose the next step is to remove the door trim.  Is there a guide somewhere on how to do this?

Thanks

Before you start pulling things apart - get a scanner and scan for errors! If you can't be bothered to do that,  disconnect the battery for 30 mins (make sure u have the radio code) then hold the buttons down for a few seconds to reteach the system (if memory serves me correctly)
