misfire on boost

Featured Replies

my 1.8t mk 1 misfires v badly under any load  ok when still.  looked at all hoses new coils & plugs  anyone local can help?? brid area  end of my tether thanks

Is it mapped? If so what plugs and coils are you on? Also remapped cars tend to favour a slight reduction in the gap, mine misfires at anything bigger than .028 with hitachi bolt downs but with mk6 coils I can go up to .031 with no problems

Does it misfire when revved at standstill. If it does then have a look at the coilpack wiring in the dark with someone revving it and look for arc. the cable outer gets brittle with age and heat, wrap with electrical tape or new loom.

Ideally you need someone local with VAGCOM/VCDS to scan it to see which cylinder is the problem, you can then swap coil pack to another location and scan again to see if misfire moves with coilpack or stays indicating plug or leads (or very very rare cylinder problem)

Please tell me your not using Bosch plus4's. :D
