Alternator load signal wire

Featured Replies

I've just had same thing, (2002 fabia comfort 1.9 TDI)

couple of instances of car running - engine manangement light beeping and flashing then, when I turned the engine off, all lights on and not turning over = battery flat. Upon charging all seems fine, had battery checked out, all ok but advised to check Volts across whilst engine running.

Just done that and only 12.2 v while engine running But idling (just cleaned battery leads and posts and had a good look from top  but no obvious breaks). Need to check again with engine revving above 2500 revs the volts across and then mainbeam lights on and heated window to see if any difference.

will report back..

Funny thing is, the problem I started with is ABS holding brakes off then light coming on and staying on... I only came on here to look for a way to find if there are any DIY code readers that would identify if (*and which one of) my abs sensors are faulty!

Any pointers would be appreciated on any of this stuff.. will post the V. readings as soon as i've sorted an engine revving foot so I can put the Volt meter across the battery!

Cheers

EDIT 14.4 volts with revs at 3500... 14.1 with mainbeam and HRW on. Looks like I'll have to stop driving like a granny at 1800 revs to save diesel.!

at least its only the ABS light to fix now! Thinking about it, just driving round the doors its really easy to never get revs over 2000 so if the battery doesn't start getting a charge till a bit higher, its no wonder its flattening the battery!.
