Clicking from canister in engine bay?

Featured Replies

This is  a bit of an odd one.

I have a 1,8T vRS and there is a loud clicking noise coming form what i think is the 'carbon canister' in the left (if you're standing in front of the car) of the engine bay.

Am i right with the part, has anyone had this before, and if so, is it a pain in the arse to sort or not?

Any help much appreciated.

They all click mate been a few worried posts about them..... completely normal

Ok, might have just got a little louder with the cold weather, but it definitely wasn't as obvious as this about a week ago.

Does anyone know what it actually is?

It's an activated carbon cannister. It's job is to get rid of the smell of fuel vapour as some of it is returned back to the fuel tank. The clicking is from the solenoid valve which is constantly opening and closing.
