Start/Stop Not Working.

Featured Replies

My start/stop has not been working for the past couple of days. The A on the car's display appears with a line through it. Is this because of the cold weather we're having?

It does disable its self below a certain temperature.

Best read the Owners Manual on Stop / Start & low temperatures.

Low battery voltage may cause it too.

Mine disabled itself last week, can't say the temp was low or battery low etc. It works ok now as it should.

Some say that aircon on and vent control to fully clear the screen disables stop/start on other Skoda models, Rapid I think. Did you have this setting on your controls?

Cheers guys. I have had the aircon on occasionally to clear the windscreen, plus heater and heated seats, would expect stop/start to complain with such a battery drain. I assume then it will kick in again when the conditions are right?

Yep can be many reasons for it not actually cutting the engine, battery slightly discharged, low outside temps, engine not quite up to temp.  The one I suggest, you need the aircon on the screen for demisting so no good when stationary and it cuts out the aircon. I'm sure that sometimes it still cut out (the engine) when in that mode on mine.

When autumn came here our start/stop refused to work. Because our journeys are relatively short I thought battery couldn't charge fully. I connected battery tender for 10 hours or so. After that start/stop worked better.

If any of you want to try, please remember Citigo is so called micro-hybrid. Never connect charger straight to the battery. Charger's negative lead has to be connected somewhere else than battery terminal. For example engine. This way system knows that electric current is coming from external charger.

I had this problem about 2 months into Citigo ownership. Then an orange engine warning light came on not too long after it.
I returned car to dealer's servicing department, turned out it was a faulty Brake Servo (which is an important factor in making the Stop/Start work). Since repair, my stop/start has worked non-stop, without one single occasion where the engine stop has failed to initiate.
Might be worth mentioning to your dealer (although, that being said there's an abundance of factors the car takes into consideration before deciding whether your stop/start can be used at that precise moment in time).
