Anyone?

Get some isopropl alcohol (spl?) and a cotton bud, and gently clean the copper contacts where the head fits into the printer.

If that doesnt work, throw the POS away and buy a decent printer.

Or you could try removing the printer head and then trying to realign it again, just in case it's not lined up properly.

As GG mentioned, maybe this is a good time for a new printer, but why have you told him to throw the point of sale away???  (POS)  :giggle:

Ill try and take it out again. Its not an old printer had it about 2 years but its not been over used at all. I only really used it every now and again.

Contact Kodak and tell them and they will send you out a new print head.

Might be dry ink gumming up contacts. Try what GG has said. If the heads come out you could try to soak them in the solution.

I know GG, I was just razzin' ya haahaa.   :D

Kodak went bust, so I doubt new print heads will be forthcoming.

My printer showed the same message a couple of weeks ago.  Googled the error message and it listed a Kodak contact number.  Called that explained the problem and they sent out a FREE print head for me to try.

For the sake of a 5 min phone call it is worth a try.

They didn't actually go bust, but they went Chapter 11 in the US and shrank significantly.

My apologies, however I was under the impression that they were now little more than a shell company, having stopped making anything physical, and having sold off most of their patents to try and clear their massive debts.

Long before the fall, their products had become so awful I stopped buying ANYTHING with a Kodak label on it; cameras took awful quality pictures, printers were unreliable, flash cards were slow and flimsy, ePhoto frames were rebadged tat etc.......

Most brands names selling All-in-One printers around the £40.00 mark..

Some used printers are half that price..

try the free phone line.

Failing that get a laser. Get photos printed online.

Once you've gone to a laser you won't look back.

Yes the cost of the printers is minimal - the ink is where they (seemingly) make the money.

If you spend £40 on a printer, you get what you paid for - a piece of tat; spend a substantial amount and you will get something reliable and with low running costs. My Epson WP4535 costs less than most lasers to run, even when printing in colour; sadly you cant get it for £170 any longer, the cheapest I have seen it recently was £220.

I personally buy compatible ink cartridges, have done so, for many years on my Epson printer/s, never missed a beat.

Recently got a Epson XP-710 4-in-1 and soon ran out of initial cartridge ink,  so bought 4 sets of 5 ink cartridges at an unbeatable price of £5.99..

Could not tell any difference in colour/B&W printing.

My ole trusty Epson RX520 3-in-1 printer when I gave it away on 'Freecycle' was 8 years old, never had any problems using compatible cartridge inks.

The sky is the limit what you can pay for printers, I believe for basic home use get a basic reliable printer, something expensive is not a guarantee it's gonna be better in the long run.

Just a question of taste, how deep your pocket is, the requirements you want from the printer, and the ink running costs.

My "old" printer is a HP that cost £150 nearly 10 years ago; it is still going strong, but HP stopped issuing drivers for it when Vista came out, and the only reliable drivers are for Pre SP2 WinXP (after SP3 it blue screens when trying to clean the printer heads or check the ink levels).
