Replacement Brakes at 75,000 miles

Featured Replies

After 75,000 on the original brake discs and front pads, I thought it was time for some replacements of the discs which were visibly wavy in the radial direction but causing no bother. The rear pads had been sticking and were replaced earlier in the year. Sticking again recently. Just had the lot changed for £242 including labour and new brake fluid at our handy local garage. I was very pleased with that price and if there are no problems, will be very pleased with the job.

My old Passat got through discs and pads every 50000 miles IIRC.

What car was that mate I paid £100 for front jurid disc and pads and £40 labour

£242 sounds abit steep

Well perhaps I'm just glad to get a decent job done out of the main dealer network. My car is as my profile. Being a long time VW group owner I felt a VW price would have been nearer to £450. I did not actually use the local main dealer due to difficulty in  speaking to anyone apart from a receptionist.

Having been around a long time I know that a continual response is that ' I could have got it cheaper'. I'm not in Birmingham but a smallish town, and my reliable local garage is a 5 minute walk away. Price is for all 4 corners and fluid change and freeing off sticky handbrake etc.

Lovely city centre in Birmingham- took in the culture and shopping a few weeks ago.
