Hi. I've owned my Skoda Fabia 1.4 16 valve Elegance since 2002 and have enjoyed many years of happy motoring until now. I've registered on this forum so I can pass on my sad story. First indication of trouble was the handbrake light coming on while I was driving!! Found the handbrake lever was fully down and tried the foot brake and noticed it was HARD to push down and not much braking effect. Worrying. Pulled into a layby and stopped and started the engine and all seemed okay so continued my journey. This happened a couple more times so into the garage it went.

WOW! I won't tell you the total cost but I ended up needing a new brake servo, reservoir and vacuum pipe! When I saw the servo I nearly freaked! It was rusted through in several places. I took a photo of it and would like to show it on this forum but wonder if this is the right place. I feel that any other owners of the older Fabias need to know about this. I dread to think what would might have happened if I lost my brakes on the motorway.
