Spark Plugs ?

Featured Replies

Can members please advise on replacement of Spark Plugs:-

Mileage??  Manufacture & Type??

Have a Monte 1.2tsi 105bhp and don't want a hole in my piston.

Also other engines?

Best to do preventive maintenance, rather than expensive repair

Must be loads of useful info. out there.

Thanks.

Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 105ps will be the Service Schedule of 40,000 miles.

Check the correct plugs and check & change them when ever you want.

Unlikely to hole a piston on this engine.

The Twinchargers are a very different story.

Supercharged & Turbo Charged 1390 cc, 180 ps Minimum and an issue with the Fueling and Intake Manifold.

when ever u want??

Was 10k with other motors , so why 40K ??

With what other motors,   Are you talking about?

It is the VW / Skoda service schedule for changing (replacing) the spark plugs,

i thought we were talking about for the 1.2 TSI.

Best check for certain with a Skoda Dealership what the Schedule / Guidelines are.

ok 12K but never 40K

Sorry,  no idea what you are referring to,

Are you talking about Oil & Filter services of 15,000 km.  (9,300 or 9,400 miles) or 372 days.

Variable Servicing of oil is before about 19,000 miles.

Or olden days and 12,000 mile Oil & Filter services. ?

just dont want bust plug , and knacked piston

Well from only £3.12 - £14.34 (£16.50 LPG)   each you might as well change them if you think they need changing.

I do not think you are understanding the full import of the replies you have received. - Your Monte 1.2 engine is NOT the 1.4 twin Charger engine that had the holed piston.

You are (if I might say so) over-reacting in this instance to a issue that does not really apply to you. The VRS 1.4 twincharger does have a history of plug failure, and as a precautionary measure users/owners wisely change their plugs before they are technically due. (wise move)

Change your plugs if you are 'worried' - but drive the car and enjoy it - and forget this fear that you have seemed to have adopted.

Blimey o'Reilly, and people tell me i'm OCD doing mine every 20k on the Yeti! :D

Our Octavia 1.2 tsi has just been in for its 3rd variable interval service at 56,000 miles. Its the 1st major service scheduled where spark plugs and air filter is changed. As you can see the old plugs are still pretty good and could have seen another 20,000 miles! Look closely and you can see the iridium electrodes welded to the tip and the inside of the ground electrode.

They are VAG/NGK Iridium plugs IZFR6P7

xman, your plugs look mint!

I changed mine on Nov2012 CTHE twincharger at 26k, miles. Plugs were good but there was evidence of minor oil burning issues with ash caking the plugs, Ground and tip were fine so no overheating.

I am changing now yearly of twice a year depending on how many track days I do. The cheapest token of mechanical sympathy for your twincharger you could do :)
