Turbo noise

Featured Replies

My 2005 Fabia 130pd 90k full service history has started to make a high pitch noise at idle

i suspect its coming from the turbo, but can only be heard from either inside the car or from under the car! it can barley be heard from the engine bay itself and it cant be heard under load.

Anyone had this before ?

hers a couple of videos 1 from under the car where the screech can be heard and 1 fom the engine being revved

I don't think it's the turbo, because at idle revs it's just windmilling.

Has the auxilliary drive belt been replaced or disturbed (it needs to come off but not necessarily be replaced when changing the cambelt) recently?

yes the cambelt waterpump and head gasket have just been replaced.. The noise sounds like its coming from the exhuast under the gear stick area

Ah, if the head's been off you want to check very carefully for damaged or disconnected emissions pipework. You will need to do some of this by hand because you actually can't see under some of the small pipes.

Also check the aux belt tension, because it's under a lot of load, particularly just after engine start or when on steering lock.
