Whirring/Whining Noise at any speed when turning left only.

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I have a 2007 Octavia Vrs TD PD, she has just crossed the 70k mark. In the last week i have heard a whirring come whining noise coming from the front passenger side wheel area when cornering left, it is noticeable at any speed not specifically at higher speed obviously the faster you are going the louder it gets. The issue is only when turning left when the wheels are straight or you are turning right there is no abnormal sound.

I would be interested in knowing if anyone else has encountered this issue and what it was that was causing it? I have checked the tyres for abnormal wear but they seem to be fine it had new tyres relatively recently and the tracking was done at the same time.

I have seen other posts that suggest it could be a wheel bearing but none of the other posts suggested it was only in turning in one direction.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

  • A faulty passenger side wheel bearing would normally be noticed when turning right as more weight is shifted to the near side putting more load on the wheel bearing. Are the brakes in good condition or could there be debris that is lodged in behind the disc or around the abs sensor ring ? Drive shafts ok ?

I got a stone from my drive lodged in the brake caliper which rubbed on the disc and made a horibke noise. Have a look.
