why does traction control light stay on for first 5 mins of starting the car?..

Featured Replies

Hi, guys going to see a fabia vrs tonight and one of the bad points on it are that the traction control light (triangle light withe the ring around it) stays on for the first 5 mins when you start the car, after 5 mins it goes of and kicks in as and when it should without any problems, any body got any idea what this is.. and can anybody tell me what the problem is i will be giving it a scan on my diagnostic computer so hopefully will find out what it could be..

any help or advice on what to look for would be nice..

Thanks

My traction control light on my 05 vrs....(ASR) I think, Is a symbol of a car with skidmarks. I am assuming  this is traction control.

Both are for the same thing. The question mark was used on the cars that were manufactured up to 2004 and the car with the skidmarks icon have been used since 2005. Scan it for error codes.

The skiddy symbol is actual ESP which is a proper stability control function - not often seen on mk1 vRS but could be specced I think.  The triangle thing is just ASR which merely cuts power to slipping wheels.  I would love to have ESP :D

Interesting, I got the skidmarks on my MK1. And controlled by my ASR button on the dash. Much better when off ;)

But when on, It cuts the power to the wheels when they spin. Which is no fun at all.
