Dipped beam issues!

Featured Replies

Hi

Ive noticed recently that my dipped beams tend to dim, then brighten, dim etc and carry on like this.

Also, when switching from full beam to dipped - it will turn off completely, then the dipped beam will come on after a couple of seconds.

Any ideas?

The dip switch on these cars carries the full draw of the headlights. As such it has a habit of burning any dust that gets into it. Try squirting some electrical contact cleaner into it.

cheers

are we talking about the indicator stalk, or the round switch

The dip switch, which is in the base of the indicator stalk, but now I think of it the round light switch is carrying the full current as well. It's just that the stalk gets switched much more often.

cheers - i might change the stalk as i want to fit cruise control at some point :)

Meantime, the contact cleaner should at least help.
