Does the belt ect need to come off to fit the cam sensor

Featured Replies

On an 05 tdi....I read yes it does then no it doesn't, don't know what's right, I see it near the front of the block just behind the belt and can feel the 10mm bolt holding it. I read that it comes out through a hole at the front by taking a grommet out.....is this right enough or does the belt ect need to come off

I know it can be done on the 1.9 PD engine with out removing the cam belt its a bit tight fit if you have big hands don't drop the bolt

Yes meant to say it's a 1.9.....so can be done, I just asked the mechanic I use, he said the belt ect needs to come off, unless he can't be arsed with it being footery

Does it go on one way, what mean is, is there a locating pin and just blots on or does it have have slots for "movement" to adjust its timing

There's a small locating pin on the back of sensor

I changed mine took about half hour
