Indicator lights no longer flash when locking doors with key fob why?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone offer advise on this issue please?

The indicator lights do flash upon opening!  and the internal light still flashes to show the doors are central locked.

My intermittent wiper selection has also stopped.....connected??

The switch on the bonnet latch has broken or shorted. Hence the car disables the intermittent wipe in case the bonnet is open. The lack of confirmation flashes when arming the alarm also indicates this (i.e. a problem with a sensor when setting the alarm).

First off try cleaning it up and WD40, open/close the bonnet many times and see if that helps. Latch mechanism would benefit from greasing, as well as the manual latch/emergency latch.

Vindaloo, is that microswitch easy to clean? I can't see how the clip works. Mike

I would say it's attached to the bonnet catch. Like the rear one is attached to the boot catch. It's probably screwed or riveted. All can do is clean it off the best you can and check the wiring is still attached. Assuming it's corroded, blast it with ECC cleaner or WD40 and work the catch many times. Ensure to grease the catch and safety catch afterwards if they're dry or crusty.

Have you ever pulled the connector apart?

Nope

OK. I've seen some photos on eBay of the socket on a new catch, so it does come apart. Just need the confidence to do it!

Sorted. Didn't need to pull the plug with the wires out. The microswitch, its on the battery side of the bonnet catch, is a blue coloured small button under a connecting piece of metal. EBay have got photos of a new catch. I couldn't see the blue button as it was covered in muck. WD40 in and clean it out and intermittent wipers are working as well as getting a flash from the indicators when locking :-) just need to sort out my electric windows now....
