Got in the car last night, turned the lights on and all of the interior illumination did not come on. I have tried fiddling with the lights switch and I've checked the fuses and everything looks ok. I have got the car booked in at the dealer on Friday to take a look but I had heard from a friend that dash illumination faults are common on Audi's. Is there a similar problem on the Octavia? Any ideas what the fault could be?

I had that, but it was down to a fuse. IIRC it's on the same circuit as the glovebox light, so check if that works. If it doesn't, check that fuse...mine only had a small gap in it where it had blown...

Keep in mind that when comparing the fuse layout in the pic on the back of the fusebox cover/manual that they are for LHD so everything is reversed on RHD cars.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll double check the fuses - I noted that the layout was different to the manual as it is a RHD. I've got a feeling the glove box light does not work - so I'll have another look at the fuse.

Found the glovebox (or stowage compartment in german!) fuse - swapped for another one and it's still not working :thumbdwn: - it was a bit tricky driving in the dark last night when I couldn't even see the speedo

Let's hope the dealer sorts it on Friday...

For anyone reading this in the future, the fault turned out to be the headlight switch. Had it fixed under warranty
