FABIA HANDBRAKE PROBLEM

Featured Replies

I NEED SOME HELP.   WHEN I APPLY THE HANDBRAKE, IT GETS STUCK.  PRESS THE BUTTON AND YOU CAN JUST PULL UP THE BRAKE HANDLE, AND NOTHING HAPPENS.

I HAVE TO PLACE THE CAR IN GEAR TO PREVENT IT MOVING.

MECHANIC HAS SAID THAT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, HE WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE CABLE, WHICH APPRENTLY IS A HARD JOB.

THE HANDBRAKE GETS STUCK, AND L HAVE TO BANG THE HANDLE DOWN FOR THE CLICKING NOISE TO RAISE.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME, IF THERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO THIS.  MONEY IS TIGHT, SO IF I CAN DO IT L WILL.

THANKS   ARTHUR

If your mechanic says cable replacement is a hard job I would suggest finding a better mechanic to start with!

So the handbrake lever sticks up, but the brakes are not holding the car?

Or the brakes work ok when the lever is up but the release button is not working?

Same as mine, and mine is going to the garage this evening to have both rear calipers changed.

Only one side is kaput, but I'd rather change both than have the other one go in a few months...
