TDI SMF conversion

Featured Replies

Hiya

Which SMF conversion do people use for the ASV engine? (it will be modified to around 180bhp if my plans work out!)

The car currently has an ebay one on there, and although it works ok - i get some clatter when on idle. I would prefer a solution with no clatter and an easy to press brake pedal.

Cheers

I fitted the Darkside Developments "Silent" one to mine (ASV) about a month ago and would highly recommend it.

Great service from Darkside and I have a lighter pedal, better feel and no noise at all.

Hope this helps.

cool - thanks for that.  i take it its the sachs pressure plate and clutch, but do you remember who made the flywheel?  I find that darkside put a 25% - 50% markup most items where you can get the same (if not very similar) items a lot cheaper elsewhere!

No idea what brand any of it was, had heard good reports and didn't want to scrimp around to save a few quid then find I had a noisy clutch.

Sounds like you've done that once already? By the time you've bought another clutch, bet you've spent more than me?

i got the car like this - so it didnt cost me anything so far - but as i need to change the engine, thought i might as well get another clutch in there!

anyway - in my research - everyone says to use a g60 flywheel - if i use one of these (or any other smf) which clutch do i need?
