Front brake caliper bolt won't tighten, help!

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I changed the pads on my Fabia tdi 2010 and whilst tightening one of the caliper slider pin bolts, I have over tightened and now it just spins. Had a couple of threads of metal come out, what are my options?

I looked everywhere for information on this but cannot find anything that really helps! I think my options are re-thread (is this safe?) or buy a new caliper

assembly of some description???

Thank you very much for any help in advance, I don't have hundreds to throw at the car so just seeing if there are any financially reasonable options or am I knackered?

Fraz.

helicoil or new mounting bracket as the 2 options

Helicoil works, and is simple enough to do, I had 1 on the Mk1 Octy and it held up just fine.

Can't see a mounting bracket and new bolt being that expensive

helicoil is last resort.

never use on safety items , yes they are ok , but that's me
