replacing mk2 vrs key fob battery

Featured Replies

Boot seems to be not opening on some occasions so assuming its the key fob battery as just replaced car battery. Any advice how to replace the key fob battery? What type does it take? And could i see any problems? Thanks

Fobs take cr2032 3v lithium battery. Do a search on you tube for guides on vw car key battery replacement until you find the similar type of key as your skoda.

I think it's a CR2032.

Pull the key apart (grab each end and pull).

Then you can pop apart the remote part and get to the battery.

Do i have reprogram or reset the key etc?

No, it should work fine after a battery change

Motor factors didn't know what batte.ry size it was.

I was too stupid to get the fob apart.  I did try RFM.   I was probably having a more than usual dyslexic day.

I popped in to the local dealer and they did it.

£4 - which is a bit more than you can get a cr2032 (?) for, but at least I didn't break it.

£4!!.... You would be lucky to get a Duracell CR2032 for that... Result I would say mate

My weighing machine has two.  Last time it needed some I got some 12 Panasonic ones from ebay.  Less than £4.

Fortunately they seem to have a decent shelf life.

Slightly back on topic with a bit of string dimension question.   Anyone have any guidelines on how long before they need changing?

I replaced mine as I had just bought the car @3 years old and was about to go off and spend a few weeks in La France Profond.  So the new one has been in about 4 years now.
