Hard Drive

Featured Replies

Looking for a hard drive to save all my PS3 data onto. Any recommendations? Don't want to spend a silly amount

If its just data, then an old style hdd by seagate should do the trick. though it depends if youre lugging it into a pc to back up or want an external stand alone system. might even be able to get a usb stick big enough!

Its just for save data. Have heard of a few horror stories recently

I got a seagate hdd drive 2tb I think, it works fine with the xbox one can't see why It wouldn't with the PS3. The price was around the £90 mark from PCs world. They was offering a 1tb for about £45 last week I seen

Think 1tb will be more than enough

If it's just game save data, shouldn't a small memory stick do it? Need to format as FAT32 for PS3 no matter what it is btw. Windows will not allow this but there are plenty of free programs you can download that will.

I got a 128GB USB 3 memory stick for £17.99 from MyMemory.co.uk the other month on offer, that would likely be 100 times more than you'd need.

That £90 HDD at PCW is about £45 everywhere else :-)

You can format 1 and  I think 2TB drives with FAT32, it is just not very efficient at those sizes.

If you want to be extra safe, SSD prices are plummeting, no spinning metal to crash its heads and die on you. I have a Chinese "KingSpan" model that works very well and doesnt cost the earth (if bought via AliExpress).

How big is the ps3's built in memory?

If you're just backing up, you wont need any more than that?

Depends on how you want to save data. There's plenty of "soft pull" HDD around. I got a couple @ around £8 for 80GB. tested out OK on Powermax, and I store backup data on them.proviso is that they ONLY get used to back up etc, then placed in a safe place( i.e never have to do any real work) and only get powered up on backup or if I do a system clean up.
