rim protectors

Featured Replies

Has anybody tried fitting rim protectors to Octy 3 225x17" wheels yet? Tried on my last car  a 2012 Yeti but no way would they fit.edbc48

What type have you got?  I fitted some Alloy Gators to mine.  Absolute pig of a job!

Alloy Gaiters, £120 fitted, less than it would cost to referb the wheels :)

I have mentioned Alloygators else where on forum. At the time I had them fitted, I thought they were great. I did this due to the fact that the alloys were almost flush with the widest point of the tyres. And could see some expensive repairs looming.

However after 6 months they have become a nuisance. It seems that the harder I drive, the easier the front ones seem to try to pull out from between the tyre and rim. Probably due to the flexing of the tyre. I find myself checking them every couple of days, and knocking them back in with a rubber mallet. Try to do it when no one is looking to avoid Skoda jokes....

I contacted Alloygator about it,they of course blame the place that fitted them,( their stockist and fitting agent).

However, they definitely stop rim damage.

Just can't wait for the standard tyres to wear down, so I can fit some with protection as the standard ones on my last 2 Mk2 Octavia's.
