Front seat mounting point threads

Featured Replies

I am pretty sure that one of my front seat mounting threads is about shot/stripped.

I don't for one minute anticipate this will be an easy fix but does anyone have any advice on the best way to tackle this?

I am yet to have a proper look at the mounting setup but could somebody tell me please if it is the floor pan that is tapped or is there a captive Nut or something I will be able to get at?

A couple of mine are the same. Think I've stripped the threads when I've kept changing the seats.

Only thing i thought of is trying to drill and tap another couple holes along the runner somehow.

Helicoil?

Yes I initially thought helicoil mate. You don't know the thread type do you? Looks like it might be a pig to drill out.

Will more than likely have a further nosey at the weekend and see what's what.

No mate, haven't a clue unfortunately.

Couldn't you helicoil or tap them to a more universal/bigger thread and use Allen bolts maybe?

Yes without looking though I wouldn't be sure that I would need to drill the seat runner to make it bigger also. I'll weigh up my options at the weekend. I can't imagine it is going to be straight forward at all though lol

I tapped one of mine, good as new :)

Drill tap and helicoil?

Looks like they are m8 bolts by the way, might have to take a gamble on the pitch of the thread unless a kind soul knows any better?
