Fabia 1.2 htp 12v

Featured Replies

My wife's 57 plate Fabia 1.2 htp 12v clutch is slipping after only 40,000 miles. I know she does n't excessively slip or ride the clutch so I'm a bit suprised.

My questions are

1: does it have a dual mass flywheel?

2: Are the clutches weak on the Fabia 2?

3: Anything else I need to know?

While pricing the clutch I noticed the newer models show thrust bearing sleeve, does my fabia have and need this changing, I remember this part failed before the clutch on my citroen.

You should only need a new clutch pack. I don't know if that includes the thrust bearing sleeve on the 1.2. Incidentally, the clutch is not noted for being a weak unit. There is no dual mass flywheel. I'm suspicious as to why the clutch is slipping at this low mileage. Get this checked at your dealer would be my advice before buying a new clutch unit. You may have a leaking oil seal contaminating the clutch friction disc.

It's slipping so will have to be changed, will check for oil contamination when dismantled.

Are you the first owner of the car?

40k miles sounds excessively soon to be replacing the clutch.

Mums 1.2htp has 90k on it now, on its original clutch and its sweet as a nut

Clutch changed, just worn out, I am going to buy my wife a Jockets cap for Christmas as she must "ride the clutch".

Glad you marked your own post as best answer. You must be pleased for yourself haha ;).

Seriously though glad you got it sorted (: she must. Tell her to use the brakes on hills rather than crawling forward, rolling back and crawling again haha.
