USB connector for charging phone?

Featured Replies

Does anyone use the USB port in the Rapid for charging their phone. Mine just connects then disconnects then connects etc....

Is this a warranty issue or is it not for charging? Anyone know?

Has the phone been paired with car?

I use the BSB port in my Octavia for charging my iPhone. It's also paired to the car. Turn your bluetooth off and all should be good ( if it's not paired to the car, I think it might be trying to connect to your bluetooth in the car )

Not all phones are compatible.  SEAT & Skoda publish lists.  Google.

Sometimes cheap USB leads can cause problems too :(

Not all USB sockets are the same, the USB design allows for a 0.5 amp output, however some devices require a 2 amp charger which when used with a less power supply will either not charge at all, maintain the current charge or worse still continue to discharge despite being plugged in.

Not sure of the spec of the USB port in the Rapid, but it may only be a 0.5 amp one. Check the mains power adapter output to see what your phone needs.

Before I got the correct Y cable for the car, I did try using the USB port and a genuine Apple Lightning cable to charge my iPhone 5. I had the same problem - power would be turned on and off - I think it's an MDI interface thing, when it fails to establish a connect, it cycles power and starts again. Not ideal when trying to charge.

No such problems when using the BMW Y cable I bought last month, but I don't believe there's anything wrong with the USB port in your Rapid.

Yeah sounds like the same issue. Which cable do I need then? Cheers
