looks like I'm finally purchasing a MK2 VRS

Recommended Posts

hey gang looks like I'm finally gonna buy a fabia vrs mk2 (test driving next week) just wondering theres two of the exact same car with the same colour but different engine codes one is the CAVE and the other is the CTHE now the cave comes with more goodies (heated seats gps bluetooth etc) has a lot more miles (36,000) on they are asking for £9000 its on a 62 plate I'm just wondering what its actually worth and wether these engines really are a disaster because on the phone the dealer said it appears i know more about this car than they do haha? and the other car is a 62 plate with a lot less miles (10,000) (but is a 2013 car) what that one its worth also just don't wanna get ripped off because I'm only 21 i know these dealers with try to take the **** with me being a young lad

Best go for the CTHE car.

The CAVE might be OK, but the CTHE is the best bet.

You need the Remainder of the 3 Year Manufacturers Warranty,

& check to see if the Original Buyer paid for 5 years.

After the Warranty you get now, or the Original Warranty Expires you will be best to purchase a

'Skoda Approved Extended Warranty'.

(If the CAVE car has had a Remap that is a problem, because any Warranty Claim might get rejected.)

A CTHE will not have had a Remap done, because it could not be remapped.

Which ever you need to be sure it has been serviced to the Schedule, & check what Warranty Work if any the car has had.

Try asking the Dealer if the Heated Seats were part of a Service Campaign, and are now done,

& ask about the Service Campaign on both cars DSG Gearbox,

was anything required and are the DSG done now,  Mineral Oil & ECU update.

Best see if you can find a Twincharger owner that will go along with you.

Enjoy the Road Tests.

george

PS

Do not pay too much for them, there are plenty for sale.

The CAVE might be too much money for a 2012 car with 36,000 miles.

You want to know what the Service & Warranty History is.

If it has had a Breather / Valve Mod & ECU update but no new engine , walk away.

& It will be needing new spark plugs now if not already changed.

The only way you can tell if a car’s engine has been remapped is by allowing your Dealer to connect their computer to the car’s
computer to check the systems, but this would be a chargeable job.

I trust this information has been of help to you, but should you require any further help then please feel free to contact me on
the telephone number listed below.

Thank you once again for contacting ŠKODA UK Customer Services.

Kind regards

Ah John Good is good IMHO.

You do not need to Pay Anything to be sure you have no Problem buying and then Being Told the Car was Previously Remapped.

Just ask a Skoda Dealer if Buying from one, to be sure to put the Car on VAS Diagnostic & to put the Latest Skoda Software on the ECU.

Before you collect the car.

It might have a Minor (#1), Major (#2) & Minor )#3) Service done,

but the Spark Plugs are due at 40,000 miles,  so if not done you want them done before another Major Service @ 3 Years or what ever.

'''''''''''''''''''

Not sure if that car was on Variable Servicing if the first Oil & Filter Minor Service was at 15,480 miles

& not the Fixed 9,400 or 372 Days.

Maybe it was a Demonstrator and Serviced @ 4-5,000 miles, sold then done again at 15,480 miles.

Or maybe Variable then done as Fixed for the next 2 Services.

So an Original Manufacturers Warranty Still, & what ever you get from the Seller.

I would still go for the CTHE unless you are dead happy with the CAVE.

It could be a cracker.

PS

Ask John Good,

Is this car one that requires 'Service Campaign' Field Actions on the DSG?    & Has it been done yet?

They are not so good at letting Registered Keepers know,

& the Dealers are a bit lax in telling owners, and what is being done & why.

PPS

If the car needs the Service Campaign Field Action on the DSG done at a Skoda / VW Dealer.

Then while doing it for the DSG ECU, they can put the Latest VW / Skoda Software on the ECU to be sure the

car is not Remapped to Stage 1 now.

(anything on the ECU when the Dealer took in the car is their responsibility, if they do not bother checking,

putting things back to Factory Settings etc.)

The cars well worth buying, and you are doing all the right things.

The CTHE is the safer bet for a car that you can enjoy, and have reliability and peace of mind.

For me it is the CAVE, because i like a little gamble,

and they are available for 'Much Cheapness'.
