My sister's just bought a lovely 56 plate Octavia 1.6 FSI Ambiente Estate in what I can only describe as "very light beige". Its a lovely motor and perfect for them, except that it wasn't fitted with parking sensors, and my sister feels she needs them.

 

I've read Girardi's fantastic writeup of retrofitting sensors to an 05 Octavia hatch, but there's a few  things I need to check before sorting my sister's car.

 

1: Will a 56 Plate estate have the holes for the sensors pre marked/pre moulded in to the back face of the bumper?

 

2: If the holes aren't likely to be pre marked, does anyone have the measurements for an estate?

 

3: I take it the wiring to the rear lamps on a 56 plate will still be traditional rather than some variant of CANBUS?

I can't help with all your points here but the colour sounds like chapaigne beige.

 

The Octavia uses CANBUS. The rear lights are monitored by the bulb failure warning.

 

I would have thought the bumper would have the holes marked.

Thanks chief. Does the CANBUS mean I can't tap in to the reverse light power feed?

Mine is a 2008 vrs & it just tap'd into the reverse light feed for my sensors,my bumper had the holes marked on the inside face.
