These new mitsubishi colts ......

Again on the trip back from Cardiff, got up to Shrewsbury and this black thing pulled up behind me, I thought it was an Evo looking at the vents and mesh bonnet, but it looked a bit high.

I pulled off and headed down the A5 fairly "briskly" expecting the evo just to sail on past, but when it went past at about 17k RPM it was a new colt, I think it's the CTZ or something. It honestly sounded like a bike, I tailed him for a bit, then he headed into 90+ mph territory when he noticed I was keeping pace.

I reckon if it was not on the queens highway the thing would have "done" my furby fair and square, a very quick little motor, just a pity it was a bit fugly from the flanks and the back.

Specs say it's around 150bhp from a 1.5 turbo, this definatly seemd "faster" than 150bhp and the bonnet / front end was more evo'esque than shown on the mitsubishi website. Anyone know if there is an even hotter version of these things around?

Fluff'

You are saying you would have had your **** kicked by a Mitsubishi people carrier. Now i've heard it all.

I have a feeling it must have been a different one - that thing wouldn't rev to anywhere near 17k ;)

At 147bhp & weighing under 1,100kgs with 210Nm of torque, it will take on a standard Fabia vRS any time.

They've had good reports all round - I'll post a report once I've had a drive sometime soon :D

Don't think my photo's in my local Mitsubishi Garage yet.

I'm no fan of cars that sit too high.It is a bit 'Grandma car/Postman Pat' like, quick or not.

Squash it a bit and I might like it :)

Not saying it's not faster than the std vRS, as I don't know :D , but it definitely doesnt rev much higher than 7k unless the spec sheet is completely wrong though ;)

I like the colt I didn't know they made a rocket version though!

It's the same as the Smart ForFour Brabus. I had one alongside me going down a long slip-road last week. I was amazed at how well it went, I only just had the edge - I'm not in standard form. It tailed off a bit when we got up to 8*+ croutons but I was impressed with it...:)

ALOT of money for not alot of car IMO though. That particular Smart is

I think I would go for the Colt at that money :D

Came fourth behind the Fab vRS in the recent group test in Test Drive mag IIRC.

thats why I am wondering if this one had been tinkered with already. The bonnet was not like the one pictured on the pix at the mitsi site, this was most definatley a colt, but the bonnet had evo style vents and mesh.

It was new on a 55 plate but had possibly an exhaust system on as it was screaming (ok, not 17k but sounded nice, especially after pottering around at 4.5k in a furby LOL)

Trying to find some other resources to see if there is a Jap domestic version or if this one came out the showroom with the whole aftermarket catalogue on it :-)

Seriously quick though, and my vRS is not standard anymore either, we ran at a fairly even pace until I backed off at just under 90, as the A5 quite often hosts some of west mercia's finest.

This had a "tall" body, but seemed very composed ride wise for the brief time I saw it.

I drove one at launch and I said at the time that it will be good value used in 12 months time. Acceleration wise it felt a true 6.5 to 60 car, and whilst the press will (rightly) criticise the lack of refinement, its very much a hot-hatch in the old sense of the phrase. Grips well, sharp steering and is always 'on it', but noisy and hard-riding.

The brabus for4 has really bad torque steer, david has driven 1, so has 1 of his mates , when he was thinking of buying 1. he didnt cos of it.
