HID Coding issues

Recommended Posts

Please feel free to take the mick if I sound dumb here but when you say add 10 to current coding you mean the binary coding? I'm using the long code helper and do not have an option for xenon without shutters I have no bit 4 in my byte 3, my binary code is 00000011 currently or do I add it to the really long number at the top

Again apologies I'm not very savvy with vcds only know basics on there

What version of VCDS are you using?

In what way? A lot of the options were available ie coming home leaving home daylight running light options etc etc just not the xenon without shutters

I coded a car for someone yesterday that was the same.

It may be that you have the option hidden.

What you need to do is on the long coding helper click on the Lcode2 button on the top menu. In there go to Byte14 and tick Bit4 and Bit5 (they won't have a description next to them). Apply the coding and it should work.

I read on another thread about adding 10 to the coding in byte 4, if i follow what you have done above shall i reverse the adding 10 to the long code?

when i added the 10 they work, although the first time i started the car the passenger side lamp went out but after a restart was fine.

Cheers for the help

I tried adding 10 to the coding but it was having none of it so I resorted to forcing the bit4 & 5 to be ticked which worked perfectly.

If they are working though without the bulb warning light I'd say leave them alone now! :)

Only thing i was worried about was the killing of the wiper motor and other electrics ive heard about lol but im guessing that was more with the Canbus friendly setup, i bought the non canbus ones, and have definately not got a light so ill just leave it there and be happy

also managed to fit led sidelights too

Yes you're only at risk of causing damage if you have the canbus "friendly" ones.

The fact you no longer have the warning is a good sign.

It seems certain cars don't have the option of "Xenons without shutters" showing but the coding is there in the background.

My car did not have the byte 3 bit 4

Doing sme research come across a few audi forums

You are mento add 10 to the hex value

So when you open long coding helper and use arrows to go up and down the byte ' s you see the box that has the 2 digit numbers one box will be yellow follow by the rest green this is the hex value

so when you get onto byte 3 the 2 digit number will be yellow

So say for example the number there is 12 add 10 on that will be 22 then close the long coding helper and click do it and bobs your uncle

Someone can clarify this if the option byte 3 bit 4 xenons without shutters is available on there car if they tick the box they will see 10 add on to the value and if they untick then 10 will be minused hope this helps

Control Module Part Number: 1K0 937 087 J

2010 Octavia Vrs F/L

All I did was Byte 14 Bit 4.

Problem encountered when I tried to code in led licence plate bulbs would cause the Led DRL to cut out. Still can't find a solution to sort it out.

I've got the same control module and car, led number plate lights fitted with the led box ticked. I've had to Piggyback a standard bulb to stop an error light on the dash.

I had an issue with no led Drl's but sorted it. Can't remember what I did now but I did tick the xenons without shutters box aswell as changing the binary code.

This has been reported quite a bit recently, for some reason 2010 Octavia's really seem to take a dislike to the HID kits.

Did one of your front indicators light up permanently? A sure sign of a fried CCM.

See this is what makes my blood boil. Before I bought the ones from London colour, I had another set which were "canbus friendly" and was told by many a member on here not to use them, as they'd damage the electrical system. So I returned them and order the London colour set...... Low and behold they've fried the BCM that skoda want £420 to repair
