Activate Lights in side mirrors?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Today I had new side mirrors with lights retrofitted on my Octavia 3 (2014).

Originally it was delivered without to my disapointment.

But the lights doesnt turn on together with coming/leaving front and rear, that works fine.

It has to be activated by coding, but how?

Anyone out there who knows? - any ideas?

Thanks a million!

If your car did not come with mirror puddle lights I would have thought it unlikely car would have the correct door controllers and/or CCM to support the retrofit and coding. Id be suprised if they can be retrofitted without any other componentry change but dont know the ins and outs.

I have them on my car but only because its an Elegance with standard fit folding mirrors.

Is the wiring even there for the puddle lights on the lower specs?

What about the opposite, can it be deactivated? I can turn off DLRs, but I havent found a way to turn off mirror lights.

Standard on my Elegance & I find them useful in dark garage & elsewhere.

Why would you want to turn them off? Likewise DRLs?

How do I escape from the cops?

You can disassemble your mirrors and pull out the bulbs.

I think the system doesn't monitor the bulbs and you won't get error message on dash.

I retrofitted some LED bulbs without canbus cancellers and there's no problem. I didn't find any error codes in VCDS.

Other idea: cover the small lamps with stickers, etc.

Maybe it's not that good idea because the mirrors collect some water and it is dropping out between the mirror housing and the lamp.

Here's the video about the mirror disassemble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcNjrArG-KI

You can see the rubber plug for the bulb at 2:36 and you don't need to go any further with disassembling just pull it out from the lamp.

Warm up the plastic before starting!
