A semi slick shod stripped out 182 is awesome around Cadwell.  Seem to stick very well.  Not saying how my little diesel compares, but I can verify it's no quicker in the corners even when it has semi slicks on as well :D

To be fair though you're Fabia is no ordinary Fabia. lot's of £'s can transform many a thing.

I am yes, same user name, though I dont use forums all that often to be honest.

Would have to have a 6 speed gearbox IMO. If mapped sympathetically, could easily do 300-320lbft and 230hp and probably hold on the standard clutch/flywheel.

Although older cars may have issues; IMO the more modern Euro4 onwards stuff is going to become a nightmare after a few years.

So maybe spend a little more and get a 2003/4 PD130 sport. Then add easy to do upgrades. Still a bit weird mind, say £1300-£1500 for the car, then at least that much modding it plus insurance and the like.

From a simple to do POV, get the 2.016V PD in Audi or VW form, remap and ARB only and the insurance question might be easier to answer.
