My Nan lives in a warden controlled flat, she has a phone with emergency button in the lounge and a BT Big button telephone in the kitchen.

 

When the wardens/nurses come round, they use the phone in the kitchen to call out on to book in and out, but when anyone try's to answer the phone in the kitchen  you can hear the person calling in but they cannot hear you.

 

Any ideas? This used to work but has recently stopped.

have you tried another phone in the kitchen ? when the wardens log in they ring a number and enter a code on the keypad and don't use voice, its not as simple as there is a mute button pressed ? cheers - Stuart
