I often see people write 'stage1' 'stage2' 'stage3' etc.

On an Octavia VRS with 180bhp standard, what upgraded components are added and then once mapped, what power can you expect with each stage?

Thanks..

There are examples around with around 300 hp with a bigger turbo, mapping and some induction and exhuast work.

Do you want the big boot with this project car?

Police like the Octy as it has big carrying capicity for cones etc but for a front wheel drive the last thing you want is weight over, or beyond the rear axle as it inhibits wieght on the fron wheels and increase moments of inertia for good handling ie pendulum effect.  Ideally cars have wheels as far in the corners as possible and the weight as central as possible for handling.

Better of picking up a 225hp Leon Cupra for small money unless you really need the big boot.

Was thinking about an ibiza 180bhp cupra, figured the leon would weigh a lot more.

Had a 180 hp Leon Cupra at it was fine, must be lighter than the Octy as it is the same chasis but shorter so less weight and certain more weight over the front axle.

Suspension was set up harder ie higher spring rate than the Octy and it felt good at 10/10th but prefered the Octy 1 VRS is normal driving mode.

Stangely the six speed box in the Leon gave no better fuel consumption and the 0-100 kph was around 8 seconds.

Now the 225 Leon Cupra R was 7 seconds to 60 mph and not really any downside on fuel consumption just a bit more insurance.  Mate had one and said he was getting 40 mpg on his 30 mile run to work from Bradford to Barnsley.  It did get knicked though as they are a bit of a target.  A few still around for relatively small money.

Having done some homework and looked into them, as far as i can tell, the only difference between the 150bhp and 180bhp cars is a map?

The early 150bhp cars aren't quiet the same, with a KO3, but the later from roughy 51 plate onwards have the AUM engine with KO3s turbo.

And no ibiza gets the KO3s is that right?

Thinking it would be best to buy an older AUM engined 1.8t A3/leon/golf/bora or something and then after fitting a fmic, exhaust system and a decent induction send it to Rtech for a stage 2 remap.
