Going into dealer tomorrow to check my pull to the left

The new tyres have solved the problem so i don't really want to do another 50 miles to the dealer to ask them to change the rear as well, they are almost new anyway, done about 4000 miles

  • It's likely they will say something like this...   "All approved used cars undergo a rigorous inspection before being retailed. It's likely a pothole has caused damage and the car will require a ful

  • Not really a fan, never been a one for relatively fast cars other than exotica, I've always had fast bikes but I'm passed the 'need for speed' now, some might say boring, I just want a car that looks

It all sounds good,

and you have comeback on them if the issue returns.

So once the newness is off the tyres you can be sure all is well.

(watch your speed more than normal when new tyres are fitted, they take a while to get the Greenness off them.)

If you have not done already,

best to check and set the tyre pressures & the TMPS if you have one.

Have fun.

Thank you, haven't got a tyre pressure sensor thing but gunna pop to the petrol station tomorrow and set them around 28psi, and yeah i will be careful, considering i might have got caught speeding today

28? Should be at least 32 if I remember correctly.

I normally do 28 front and 30 rear, is that wrong? 32 the ride feels very stiff/rough

Just got back from dealer, changed front wheels for Continentals sport and problem solved, no more pulling. They explained that the problem was with the tyres but can't remember the technical stuff they said about the tyres which made the car pull to the left. Done tracking and everything is fine now.

As regards to the complaint, i spoke to the manager and he said i should've been treated better as customer service is their priority and been kept updated and he apologised and will look into it and give me a call..

They should've replaced all four as it means you can't swap the wheels around now to spread the wear evenly as the problem will return if you put the rear Dunlops on the front.

It'll tell you on the filler cap.  I don't have mine at hand to check.

It will be stiff, its stiffened suspension on 17 inch wheels with rubber band profile tyres.  You should try the 15 inch wheels to see the difference!

Good point Gazbull17.

As it was with the Directional Dunlop Sport Maxx the only choice was changing front to rear.

It would be interesting to move the wheels with Dunlops from rear to front to see that the cars pulling to the left for shorted with the Tracking being adjusted, or the Continentals are covering up the issue.

Yeah i know what you mean, would've been good

If they changed all four but the issue is solved and i really don't want another 50 mile trip and leaving the car again with them, would rather leave it as it is. If the problem reoccurs over time then i'll get them to sort it out again, probably by replacing all 4 this time

Be careful with the Dunlops because you need to run the correct pressures, i know you do with every tyre,

but even though the Sport Maxx are XL,  the sidewalls are easily damaged and not always on the outside sidewall,

it can be on the inside (middle of car) and easily missed.

I have several that i wrecked, but i like them on warm summer days, just not when liable to being bad road surfaces and potholes.

Okay thanks will have to check pressures for both tyres and pump them up accordingly. There's so many potholes and uneven road surfaces around here, it's ridiculous

I was not worried about the person fitting your new tyres having the pressures low,

i was more thinking them up to get the bead on the rims, and then not let down that much.

Funny how the Pulling to the left is less when the pressures are up a bit near the Max.

(but no Factory Trained VWG Technician would ever do that.)

*Please let us know what pressure they did hand the car back to you with.*

I don't know what you mean but will check them tomorrow and let you know, cheers

When you put the Air Hose on the Front tyres see if they were left up near 40 psi or down near 30 psi is what i mean.

Oh okay, will check

My best mate works in service at a local Honda dealership, they stumbled on a something recently with a car they had in for the pulling to the left thing. Honda were doing the same as Skoda and fitting a set of new tyres under warranty but it doesn't always cure the problem and alignment check's always comeback fine but while changing the tyres in the workshop one of the lads rolled the old tyre (without wheel) across the workshop to another technician and found the tyre had a natural tendency to turn one way rather than roll straight, they did it a few times and the tyre consistently turned the same way. They then marked all the tyres coming off the car and the corner they came from, striped them off rims and had some fun rolling the tyres back and forth across the workshop to each other and learned that the way they were built up when on the vehicle from new the tyres had natural tendency to pull left. So to prove a point to themselves they remounted the original tyres on rims so that all tyres naturally turned to the centre of the vehicle to cancel each other out.

It worked and cured the pull to the left, they have cured a couple cars since with this method.

Yes! This is exactly what I was trying to point out when I posted a link in here earlier on  :D
