So far, so good

Featured Replies

Hello all,

So I have been the proud owner of a diesel VRS estate for a few weeks now, overall I am very happy with the car, the Skoda service not so much. Highlighted when I picked it up that the gloss black window trims were all scratched, like by over zealous valeters (learnt my lesson here) and despite a second 5 hour valet it was no better, now being replaced at dealers cost. Not a big issue but badly managed.

Anyway, here she is.

Just the black pack and winter pack as options, coming from a van just having electric windows feels like luxury for me!

So far I have debadged the make and model and changed all the interior lights to white LED. Next on the list is number plate lights, transfer my private plate and get pressed metal plates on and look at blacking all the remaining badges. Then move onto the bigger jobs...

Looking very nice that mate!

Great, enjoy your horses!

The black window trims get swirl marks just from being breathed on.

Pretty much every Mk3 I've looked at has them that way.

As above, scratches on the glossy black window trims are impossible to avoid.

Nice car, an exact clone of mine.

Cheers all, if they wouldn't have actually scratched (down to the white undercoat) one of the trims I might have been more lenient.

Does everyone just accept the crap finish then? Seems crazy on a brand new car. Like I said, the issues not huge to me, just badly managed by the dealer.

I have had the same problems with my 6 month old VRS estate.  Being black, the marks and scratches on the window trims stand out more.  The dealer denied there was a problem despite a clear cicular clamp mark beneath the lacquer coat on the drivers side.   I have also had issues with too many noisy interior niggles - mainly interior window trim problems and possibly the seatbelt housings on both sides.  Lots of pluses with the car though.  Comfortable, fast and vast inside.  Its just for £25,000 I would have expected fewer irritations - certainly my previous VRS seemed to have been much better built and certainly cheaper to run - though mine should still improve I guess as the engine loosens up.

One thought.  Given the long lead time for the early VRS deliveries to the UK, I wonder if quality control suffered in production as efforts were made to fill backlogs?  I hope not, but if the incidence of moaning about quality issues on Octy III`s decreases on the blogs over the next 6 months........

Nice photos. I am having one exactly the same next wednesday. I compromised on the spec, no winter pack or sat nav, but it has a full glass roof and black pack. I am having the unregistered showroom model. Cant wait !

Interesting point about quality Roland, although I haven't had as many as you.

Bill, your going to love it.

Pictures for pictures sake, here's my old girl after a scrub today ready to be advertised.
