2014 low mileage offers.Should I be tempted?

Featured Replies

There are a few "nearly new" 140 and 170 Outdoors for sale at the moment.

I am tempted to replace my ageing Octy with a DSG Yeti but only if I can extend the Skoda warranty.

Would this be possible on a pre-reg vehicle with low miles or would I be forced into the independent warranty market?

Thanks for any advice/pearls of wisdom,Oldnewbie up a windy hill in Knighton.

Sorry originally said Outback not Outdoor!!!

A 2014 Outback would have the remainder of a 5 year manufacturer warranty, but you don't mean that, so Ill carry on.

I believe you still can extend the Skoda warranty, but its not the same as the 'factory ordered' extended warranty (whatever the hell the difference is supposed to be).

Are we talking Subaru Outback or Yeti Outdoor?

Given the post is in the Yeti forum (and you can't compare a Yeti to anything, remember) and talking about 140 and 170 models, I'd assume its the Yeti :)

From Skoda UK's website:

Manufacturer and/or ŠKODA APPROVED warranty

If you’re buying a car that’s less than six years of age with less than 72,000 miles on the clock you’ll automatically receive a 12 month warranty. Older cars which have a maximum of 100,000 miles on the clock come with a minimum of 3 months’ warranty. Warranties will either be the remainder of Manufacturer's warranty, a ŠKODA APPROVED warranty or a combination of the two.

You can also extend the warranty period at the time of buying, giving you even more worry-free driving time.

It doesn't say if the extended warranty is via Skoda or an approved third party. I would imagine it will be offered by the supplying dealer rather than Skoda though.

You can buy a Skoda Approved Extended Warranty and Breakdown when the new car warranty expires. You can only opt to extend the original warranty to 4 or 5 years if you pay for that extension at the time of buying the car from new, ie before you take delivery. I purchased the former when my current Octavia's warranty expired at 3 years and I have included the latter in my order for a new Yeti.

I'd be seeing what sort of a deal I could get on a new one, maybe another dealer.

I've seen new runout/end of year deals for new which was less than the second hand division of the same dealer.

Then again, demand for Yeti out here perhaps wasn't as great, but I'd still try you just never know.
