dvla direct debit

Featured Replies

So with Christmas I've forgotten to move money around and my dvla tax direct debit has bounced today. Anyone know what happens as I can't see anything on their site. Will they try again like other direct debits or do I have to retax or what? My own fault but there doesn't seem to be an answer anywhere?

This is all I could find on DVLA's website.

'18. What happens if I fail to keep up the Direct Debit payments?

If you do not keep up the payments you may be liable for enforcement action.'

My interpretation is that having failed to pay on time your car is now untaxed and you will therefore have to reapply to tax it.

Id contact them.

They might just try again in a few days, they might not bother.

Check your e-mails n see if they've sent you one giving any details?

You will get a letter/email telling you they will try again on X date and if it bounces again you will be liable for the full 1 year fee with no option of direct debit.

BBC1 'Watchdog'  doing an article on the DVLA & VED.

Maybe catch on iplayer.

Much improvements IME with the DVLA online.

I am getting V5's in the letterbox from the post person in 2 days after change of registered keeper.

SORN and then Re-taxing (purchasing the VED) dead easy.

Sadly still the rip-off of a vehicle on SORN 1st to 15th of a month, or even last day of month, and buy VED using Direct Debit

or pay in full and you have to pay the tax (VED) back to 1st of that month.

I posted a v5 2 weeks ago for a change of ownership and nothing back yet.

Be interesting to see how long it takes.

Expecting a cheque for the remainder of the road tax too ofc

I never posted.

Just change of keepers done online on Wednesday and V5's arrived today.
