I recently bought a 2005 Octy vRS seamed like a good buy at the time not so sure now.

 

I get a loud knock sound when the engine starts, and were there wasn't any, I now have oil splatter on the inside of the bonnet.

 

My mate checked a few things for me as i'm not very savvy at these things coolant was bubbling not boiling after about 15 miles running. Also he listened to the bottom of the engine block in two different places which sounded slightly different in both places.

 

My mate has told me what he thinks it is I just wanted a second opinion, any help would be grateful, as far as i'm aware it runs well apart from these couple of things.

 

I also took it to a garage for a diagnostic but the only code that came up was for a boost sensor.
