Anyone in to old car radios etc?

Featured Replies

My Dad was looking for an old landline phone in the cupboard and came across this:

Alpine 7148L Radio/cassette and Alpine 3214 7 Channel equalizer that he had in his Mk1 Escort 'back in the day'.

It is now going to go in my 1977 Mini that I am rebuilding:

Auto reverse AND a graphic equaliser! He was posh...

My Dad's first car radio, actually we called it a wireless, had a great big valve power supply for the valve heaters which fitted under the seat.

No idea what brand it was.  But it was chromey, which was important in the 50's.

In the 60's, a mate fitted a 7" singles disk player to his car.  We like being able to listen to "our" music rather than the Light Programme.  (radio 1 had not been invented yet).   Unfortunately if you left any records actually in the car in summer, they would curl up with the heat.
