Rapid will not start after Service

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Wasnt sure to post this in the Rapid section or here, but here's the issue.

Just serviced my Rapid (1.6 TDI) - been servicing my cars for years with no issues - but following this, it will not start. It did start once the service was done, but then died which is making me think it is linked to fuel/air...

I changed Oil, Air and Fuel and put about half a cup of fuel in the filter before putting back in. I've tried all the usual - turning ingnition on and off to try prime, but nothing even after a good few cranks.

After a while while turning over, the Oil light does flash red and the glow lamps flash, but this could be more of a red herring. There is plently oil in there and pressure is good - no leaking oil from the sump nut and dipsitck shows fine.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a big air lock in the fuel lines after the filter change.

Cheers,

Got recovery coming out to have a peek!

Oh **** ! You needed to prime the pump using vagcom, or brimming the fuel filter to the max then turning it over , you may ave a very expensive fix coming up

All started in less than 5 mins.

Few sprays of easy start in the air intake and she came back to life!!

Correct - doesn't have to be a main dealer doing the work, but does need to be a VAT registered and qualified garage/mechanic using OE-quality parts as per the EU Block Exemption Regulation.
