Engine Managment Light Problems

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2006 Octavia. About 4 weeks ago we had to replace the turbo at 74000.Two weeks later the engine management light came on. We use an auto mechanic recommend by the local Skoda garage. He traced this fault to a couple of faulty sensors one being the air mass meter.I think. However the E.M.L has returned. He is unable to find any fault. He took alot of stuff out and cleaned some earth points but to no avail. The car generally drives ok however I do no have any "kick" foot to the floor you expect take off but no. This morning however i did get a bit but its gona back to none. Any suggrstions would be much appreciated.

Hi welcome to the forum,

There are lots of different Octavias , which one do you have?. Did your  man use a code reader to find the faults, if so then the readout would be handy . Ideally using a vcds reader.

I think its the octavia 2. it was a bosch system that way used. showed air mass origionally that ways fixed.latest diagnostic showed no faults.

Each and every time the EML is illuminated it logs a fault which is stored in the cars ECU.

Ask the mechanic for the fault codes he has recorded.

Post them here and Google them also.

Good luck.

@ OP.  Helpers needs to know what car you have.  More details = more chance of a solution.

VCDS is the 3rd party interrogator, it's pretty comprehensive, 2nd only to the official VAG one and usually much better than the generic handhelds.

Ok so i dont know much info on the car because we have only had it a few months. Using the local car part supplier website i have determined its a octavia 2006 1.9.i Got a fault code reader 2 codes ... P0238-turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor 'A' circuit high and P0101 - Mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance problem.

have your checked that the EGR is not clogged up?

Unlikely.
