Hey guys. I have a OCTAVIA 2 1.6 fsi. When pulling away there is a metallic like clunk which can be heard inside the car sounds like it's coming from n/s/f engine area. I hear the same noise also when changing from 1st to 2nd as I release the clutch. However, it only appears to happen intermittently when cold.

I have not heard this noise when changing up into any other gear and occasionally hear it when changing down to 2nd for a turn/roundabout etc but mainly when it's cold and never really when warm or hot.

I've checked around in the engine bay and nothing seems to be clearly evident. Engine mounts look ok etc

Has anyone else had similar? Any ideas? It's driving me crazy.

Bit more info. It mainly seems to do it when cold and at lower revs? If I increase the revs when pulling away it doesn't happen?

It's not just something rolling around under the seats is it?

Had any work done to the shocks or springs lately? Something possibly similar happened to me and it was due to a shock bolt not being tightened up properly after a new bump stop was fitted. It affected the rear of my car and seemed to happen at a slower speeds and cornering.

Nope only recent work was a temp sensor. Car hasn't been used much tbh.

Had a similar noise on my old astra and it was subframe bushes although it was constant and in every gear
