Honda Civic 1- 0 Skoda Fabia

£2000 shouldnt be a write off, especially if the third party accepted the blame. It might be on the limit though.

To me that means the car is straight and they will probably just fill the dent in the sill, then its just the two doors swap bits off your old doors and a spray. Most expensive is painting as they will blend into front and rear quarter panel.

Don't forget the cost of the hire car up till now and probably for another couple of weeks, that may tip it over the edge.

So the insurance company have decided to repair my Fabia.  Total cost of repairs £1800.  Here it is at the bodyshop being prepped:

Good news on the repair. Not much sill damage judging by the fact that they have filled it. Just go over it with a fine toothcomb when you go to collect it and make sure its a proper job done before you sign for it.

My old mans silver fabia was rejected three times by me as they hadnt done a perfect job on a real low milage minter. Its your car, make sure its 100% right

Especially on that rear door if they re-spray it with the glass in.

Glad to hear it's being sorted out reasonably quickly at least :)

WRT the robbing ****** insurance repairers, check the acoustics and feel of the door shut so you get decent quality doors

I had a repair done once (my wife crashed an old MPI) the quality of the door they was replaced was shocking nothing like original (of course originals, its like a tank).

It didn't have the same shut quality/weight so obviously substandard quality parts is the way but they don't hold back on the charging front do they !

If I had a door like that again, I think I'd complain to the insurance because someone is clearly profiting and I bet they quote dealer prices of doors yet while fitting some much cheaper alternative.

And get a warranty on the paint job too.

Cheers all for the advice.  I never though to pick the door up and see if it was a lightweight cheapo.

I'll be along there with my magnifying glass when I pick it up.  Apparently there's a 'lifetime' warranty on the repair.

Good to see its repairable!

i got 2 mint silver doors complete forsale
