3 cyl turbo petrol 228bhp engine sounds interesting

They can keep the 114bhp 1.5 derv though

Hmm. Once upon a time the sight of a 3 series, never mind a 5 boring down upon you on a UK M-way let alone an autobahn was intimidating. This has gone all Korean kitten friendly, the Hyundai Veloster looks more scary. Even the new Mondeo is better looking with more presence. Bring back Chris Bangle!

Major revamp there by BMW, A new from bumper. Perhaps they've ran out of ideas.

Just me or does it look an awful lot like an E46?

 

In fairness I thought that was quite a handsome car in its day.

Great looking car, I personally prefer the E90 as it is more agressive looking, the F30 FL looks like to have been made more agressive looking with te different front bumper and narrower headlights.

Look forward to seeing it properly!

Its just a mid life facelift. To joe bloggs it will look no different.

BMW always do small facelifts/LCIs - they did with the E30, the E39, the E46, E60/1, E9*, the 1 series (E8*?) so it only stands to reason they'll keep doing small cosmetic changes with a couple of new engines sometimes thrown in. The 3 cylinder petrol looks a lot like the i8 engine on paper. Not surprising it's trickling down to other models now.

Agreed there! Stuff like the E61 in sport trim, of the Z4 coupe are just lovely looking cars.

 

I've got a new 420d sat on my drive atm, and lovely (ish) car that it is, it's pretty bland looking from the outside. Defo not worth the £40k+ asking price IMO, esp. for a 4pot.

 

It's got a oil temp (not water) gauge, which I do really like though.

Various errors on the iDrive too, and it jumped out of gear randomly when joining a dual carriage way (not that I knew my speed as the speedo had died!). Glad it's not my problem!

I hope the facelift integrates the bonnet into the grille as the big line from the bonnet looks stoopid imo
