Tonight 21.00 - 22.00

(on BBC 2 in Scotland, no idea if Nationwide.)

2 salesmen trading places.

Looks interesting

I will be watching

stared watching, but gave up after 5 mins, boring & so scripted.

I quite enjoyed that actually.

Shows what the differences are.

Although they were far too nice and honest to be real salesman? Surely?

Was quite good

Just watched it.

Wouldn't fancy buying a car off of the English guy. His lack of facial attention is appalling. No point wearing a tailored suit, smart shirt and bright tie when he can't shave his face properly.

The Welsh fella, nice bloke, totally suited to his job. Would do well swapping jobs permanently. Can imagine he would be a good seller as he's quiet and comfortable to be around.

Started watching but was also building Lego so not really concentrating

I enjoyed it

Started watching this, enjoyed it so far so looking forward to finishing after work!

Here's a question though,

Who on earth has sold their La Ferrari already!?!?!?!?!

I never knew about this :-(

Watch it on I player

I enjoyed it

I enjoyed it too! Cracking little exposé on the world of car sales and some interesting issues regarding relative wealth/poverty and family life.

I might watch it on iPlayer as it'll bring back memories of my days selling cars in Rotherham.....

It was pretty good, old Dave in Bridgend had it sorted and the top marques showroom was droolsville. Brought back some car sales memories of my own from back in the day, unfortunately I wasn't selling used supercars.

Me neither.  I worked in a Nissan dealership so it was the Almera Gti, Primera GT and 200sx that we used to borrow on the weekends.  Not exactly premier league stuff but they did the job.

Fair play, beats where I was! I was a valet at a Honda dealership, got to drive a few type R and S2000s in between branches across Cornwall mind so not all bad. Selling wise I was at a car supermarket type place, sold quite a lot but about 1/3 would fail on finance. The Bridgend guy in the program sounded familiar having a go at him for letting customers walk and take control and such. I enjoyed selling cars but not for the place I was at, it was scripted sales and hard graft.

£30 commission per car seemed a bit paltry, and for all the stick the Ferrari guy got, he sold more cars.

My commission used to start at 35, but it would go up as you went over 10 cars in the month. Thought it was a bit tight it didn't go up but it wasn't far off the going rate for that kind of market. The top marques guy did well especially after he sold a couple and I think he got the most out of it, I think the other guy was a bit set in his ways and a little startled by the stock. Can't say I blame him mind, they had some beautiful cars.

It must be difficult when your used to hard selling cars for practicality and fuel consumption then suddenly selling collectors items

I watched this today & enjoyed it,i was surprised that they both were on the same basic pay of £250 a week, with the supercar salesman spending £400 a month on fuel it must be a worry for him if he doesnt sell a car. I guess when he does sell one the commision will keep him & his family going for a while.

His challenge was the biggest for sure, and that commute, nasty business. Plus the other guy had cut his teeth in the yards so he was never going to be a million miles away.

Should have given it a bit longer.

I started watching and took a dislike to Mr Ferrari but I softened to him really. They're both doing what's broadly the same job for broadly the same reasons, but I think they came out of that experience as different people.

2 different things isnt it, it was never going to be easy

One is a pushy, dont let the customer escape cos he might change his mind, just get the money in.

The other is a lot more laid back 'have a few days to think about it' n the vehicle will pretty much sell itself if the customer wants it. They just need facts about that particular car.

No wonder neither of em got off with a flying start
