Well, That Peed Me Off Tonight....

Featured Replies

In a very dark parking space and had to reverse out (it was light when I parked)  and while reversing I bumped my Roomster into one of those porche tractor things someone had parked close by..... turns out my reversing sensors have packed up - not a beep out of the little blighters, probably the first time i could have really used their input - luckily I was crawling very slowly so no damage done, but it has peeved me.... Uhh....

Porsche Tractor?

Porsche Tractor?

Cayenne I suspect.

The ugly ones.

Not small and perfectly formed like a Roomster.

Porsche Tractor?

They exist!!

Yes. it was the Cayenne, a black one hidden in the shadows - I misjudged the distance and relied a bit too much on my sensors warning me.... But they didn't. And still aren't working...

Doh! I almost got caught out like that once, reversing on a hill so I didn't bother putting it in reverse and almost hit a Beemer because I was being lazy and relying on the sensors!

I did that once.  Difference is, it was on my drive and the car I nearly hit was my wife's.  Very nearly a double whammy!

Didn't your Dad teach you to BACK INTO parking spaces ' cos headlamps are brighter than reverse lamp(s)?

I read the other day that a high pressure wash can damage the sensors - another reason why I wash my own car.

Last time I washed my car it was seriously mudded up around the edges so I decided to pressure wash the mud off.  A couple of the parking sensors were a bit unhappy for a few days afterwards!  OK now but I won't be doing that again in a hurry!

you can use a pressure washer but not closer than about 18-24  inches of the sensor with care

basically minimal distance to clean the dirt, but a quick spray with minimal amount of water just to wet them and use a sponge / mitt to clean them is best
