Wanted 1.4 TDI Engine Specialist NW

Featured Replies

On my 80 BHP 1.4 TDI and due to oil in the cooling system, I replaced the oil cooler and then when that did not cure it so I took it to a reputable independent garage, where I had a the cyl head gasket replaced (currently has a 3 notch gasket) and at the same time the head was sent away for a new camshaft, guides, vale re-grind etc, after collecting the car It was not running correctly, low on power, struggled to start cleanly and had a vibration at certain revs.

I queried whether the correct gasket and camshaft had been fitted, they assured me they were correct, so It went back to the garage for checking, they say it's all spot on. But it's not right, it used to be a joy to drive with good torque with little throttle and good MPG.

Using VCDS Lite version, no engine faults are showing, so I reset the Torsion Value to 00.00, reset the ECU but the engine is still down on power, MPG has dropped by about 20%, it needs a bit more throttle and the vibration is still there.

After experimenting with the Torsion Value & ECU reset, I have found that to get the engine to run with a bit more torque and response I have had to set the Torsion Value at -06.00 but it's not good enough. I would have expected the engine with a re-built head to have been a little more powerful and more responsive or even as good as what it was prior to the entailed work.

Naturally I would like to get this sorted ASAP, can anyone recommend a good Fabia 1.4 TDI engine specialist in or around Cheshire who can diagnose and resolve the problems.

Any help greatly appreciated.

To rule out turbo pressure and fuelling request log the following.

Group 11. This will show actually pressure compared to requested.

Group 8. This shows the fuelling request from the accelerator, torque limiter and smoke map.

Group 3. MAF sensor reading.

Log all 3 separately (so 3 logs). Using 3rd gear from 1500rpm to 4-4500rpm.

You can email me the logs (pm me for address) and I'll post the results in graphs.

KeithCheetham - Yes it's still the same problem.

DB.

Sorry for the delay.

Group 03 - Airflow through the MAF sensor. This is fine.

Group 08 - Fuelling request is fine. Smoke MAP isn't being limited due to airflow through MAF or boost. Cant remember is the 1.4 is MAF based of MAP based.

Group 11 - Boost is looking fine

Group 13 - Injector idle is looking fine.
