Just how hard/tricky is this

Featured Replies

To change the cam sensor on a mk2 1.9, I think it can be done without taking the belt off but how tricky is it (I know it's between the sprocket and belt and set back) or if it best to take it off, is it easy enough or best left to the garage I use

It took me about 1/2 an hour to do , Its very simple once the engine/ timing belt covers are off. The hardest part was wriggling the wiring loom about to get it back into place.

Cheers, the local guy I use wants 50 just to do it (I supply the sensor) buy he'll take the belt off

I guess what I'm really scared of is dropping the bolt or especially not getting it back in

IIRC Only the cover needs to come off, its tight but it should be doable without removing the belt.

I guess he can't be arsed with the fiddling and it's easier for him to take the belt off or at least loosen it, I think £50 is a bit much
