Flat Sopt and Stalling issue ?

Featured Replies

I own a 2009 Octavia Elegance Estate 1.6tdi. The vehicle has been Serviced by an Authorised Skoda Dealer since bew and at the required Intervals. Two weeks ago, the engine started playing up I.e. when the engine is warm I experience a Flat Sopt around 1400 rpm in top gear together with occasional stalling when pulling away from stationary.

Last week I too it back to my Skoda dealer who carried out Diagnostics checks revealing no issues but did recommend a New Fuel Filter to be fitted. This was was done and after payingthe bill of £139.00, drovback home. I experienced no further problems until today when the Flat Sopt returned and experienced it twice whilst out and about but no stalling.

Just wondered if anyone else out there has experienced similar problems and what it eventually turned out to be as I am not yet convinced we have got the bottom of the problem yet ?

Many thanks :)

Flat spot around 1400 rpm can often be a sticky egr

Hi and many thanks. Pardon my ignorance but what is an EGR please ?

Exhaust gas recirculating valve, it's common for these to get hunker up and stick causing hesitation between 1200 and 1400 rpm. Beyond this sticking turbo vanes can be suspected.

Many thanks for the advice :)

Would this problem with the EGR or sticking Turbo vanes not show up as a fault when the vehicle was hooked up to the Diagnostic machine at my Skoda Dealer ?
